A.R. Penck

A.R. Penck (b. 1939, Dresden, Germany – d. 2017, Zurich, Switzerland) was a pioneering Neo-Expressionist whose radical visual language—marked by stick figures and symbolic patterns—sought universal communication. His "Standart" system of pictograms deconstructs complex social structures into raw, primal imagery.

Recognized worldwide, Penck exhibited at the Venice Biennale and held solo shows at Museum Ludwig, Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and Museo Rufino Tamayo. His works are part of prestigious collections, including MoMA (New York), Tate (London), and Centre Pompidou (Paris).
